How to restore a previous version of a Spotify playlist

Spotify can bring back a playlist you deleted, but it has no way for you to roll an existing playlist back to how it looked last week. There is no version history, no list of removed songs and no “undo” beyond the last action.

Users have asked for playlist version history on Spotify’s ideas board for years. Until it exists, these are the options.

If it just happened

In the desktop app, the undo shortcut can reverse the last change right after you make it. On mobile, removing a song shows a short-lived “Undo” button — once it disappears, so does the option.

Ask Spotify Support

Spotify’s moderators consistently point people to Customer Support, who can sometimes restore a playlist to an earlier state. Describe what changed and roughly when. It is not guaranteed and it is not instant.

Rebuild it yourself

  1. 1Look in Recently played and your listening history for songs you remember.
  2. 2If friends follow the playlist, a copy on their side (or an old shared link) may still have the tracks.
