Spotify account hacked and playlists deleted or changed
Last checked
Signs include playlists deleted or renamed, strangers’ music in Recently played, and playlists you never made. Secure the account before restoring anything, or the changes may happen again.
Secure the account
- 1Reset your password (and the password of the email account linked to Spotify).
- 2On your account page, sign out everywhere.
- 3Remove access for apps you don’t recognise.
- 4If you can’t log in at all, contact Spotify Support and say someone has taken over your account.
Restore what was deleted
Deleted playlists can be restored from Recover playlists for 90 days. Playlists that were edited rather than deleted — songs removed, renamed, reordered — can’t be rolled back there; ask Spotify Support.
